Text 10

M: Hello. Welcome to theprogram. In America, May and June are the traditional months for graduations. Alistener in China, Wang Ming, who is about to get an engineering degree, wantsto know how American college graduates find jobs. Right now, the answer is: notvery easily. A latest study on the college job market showed that employerswanted to hire 22% fewer graduates this year than last. The study also showedthat just 20% of those who looked for jobs before graduation have found one bynow. This is compared to half of students who had looked for a job by this timetwo years ago. But one difference: fewer of this year’s graduates have startedto search for jobs. Engineering graduates were more likely to have startedtheir job search already, and to have accepted a job. This is among thebest-paid professions for people with just a college degree. On average, engineering majors expect to start at about $62,000 a year.

3. 答案为A。 根据材料中女士的话“If I were you, I would tell her tostop.

错误选项A来自材料中女士所说“May I see the wine list?”

5. 答案为A。 材料中男士问“Do you mind my opening the window?”女士回答道“As a matter of fact, Im feeling a bit cold.”

根据材料中男士的话“Im going to work at the Riverside Hotel.”

根据材料中男士的话“Ill pay for the textbooks for next term.”

8. 答案为A。 根据材料中女士问男士“How are your classes?” 及男士的回答 “Im glad this is my last term here, though.” 可知男士还是一名学生,再根据女士自己说的“I still have three terms to gountil Im done.”

9. 答案为A。 根据材料中男士的话“First, I want to get a job as acomputer programmer”可知男士毕业后会先找一份计算机程序员的工作。

根据材料中女士的回答“Hi, Im calling to make some changes to an existing reservation.”

根据材料中男士的话“The new rate is $199 per night,instead of the original $179.”

根据材料中女士的话“Then were going boating on Saturday.”

14. 答案为A。 根据材料中女士的话“Were staying in a country inn.”

根据材料中女士的话“I dont know howyou can do that all weekend, Gordon. Id get bored.”

17. 答案为A。 根据材料中“Wang Ming, whois about to get an engineering degree”可知Wang Ming 是一名马上就要毕业的学生。

根据材料中“…how Americancollege graduates find jobs. Right now, the answer is: not very easily.”

19. 答案为A。 根据材料中“The study alsoshowed that just 20% of those who looked for jobs before graduation have foundone by now.”

根据材料中“Engineering graduates were more likely to have started their jobsearch already, and to have accepted a job. This is among the best-paidprofessions for people with just a college degree. On average, engineeringmajors expect to start at about $62,000 a year.”
