司马彪云："六极，四方上下也。"
“在太极之先而不为高，在六极之下而不为深，先天地生而不为久，长于上古而不为老."
按郭象注：
　　道无所不在，故在高为无高，在深为无深，在久为无久，在老为无老。且上下无不格者，不得以高卑称。内外无不至者，不得以表裏名。与化俱移者，不得言久。终始无常者，不可谓老。
翻译 :
(Dao) It is everywhere and omnipresent : it's prior to Taiqi but still it's not the tallest; It's deeper than Six Qi but it's still not the deepest; It's born before the sky and earth but it's still not the oldest; It's older than the ancient time but it's still not the oldest.
