Once upon a time, there lived a fisherman and his wife. They had a little girl called Leena. The fisherman would set out for the river bank every day and come back with merely a handful for his family. One fine day, as he was setting up his fishing nets, he glanced to the side where he saw a baby floating down the river on a giant leaf. 

从前，有一个渔夫和他的妻子。他们有个女儿叫琳娜。渔夫每天都出发去河边，回来的时候，只带回几个给家人。一个晴朗的日子，当他在架起渔网时，他瞥了一眼岸边，看见一个婴儿漂在一片巨大的树叶上。

My goodness! what is this baby doing here, floating in this river. I better carry her out, else she may drown. The fisherman carried the baby out gently and took her home to his wife. My dear, this child was floating on a leaf in the water. I had to save her and bring her home. We already have a daughter. How do you think we will be able to raise her? 

我的天哪!这个婴儿在这里做什么，漂在河里。我最好把她抬出去，不然她会淹死的。渔夫轻轻地把孩子抱了出来，带回家给他的妻子。亲爱的，这个孩子正漂浮在一片叶子上。我必须救她，把她带回家。我们已经有一个女儿了。你觉得我们怎么养得起她?

The little girl was named Fiona. The farmer loved her as much as his own daughter. Over the years, Lena and Fiona grew up into two beautiful girls. While Leena grew up to be like her mother, Fiona was kind and caring... just like her father. The fisherman was very sick and soon died. Fiona was heartbroken. You brought us bad luck, you are bad luck. Soon the mother's aversion for Fiona grew more and more. 

这个小女孩名叫菲奥娜。农夫像爱自己的女儿一样爱她。多年来，莉娜和菲奥娜成长为两个美丽的女孩。丽娜长大后就像她的母亲一样，而菲奥娜则是善良而有爱心的……就像她父亲一样。渔夫病得很重，很快就死了。霏欧纳是心碎。你给我们带来了厄运，你就是厄运。不久，母亲对菲奥娜的反感就越来越强烈了。

She started treating Fiona like a servant and exclude her from the family. She would make her eat in the kitchen alone and work continually. Apart from the daily chores, Fiona had to go twice a day to draw water, more than a mile and a half away from the house and bring home a pitcher full of it. One day she went to the fountain and sat there crying bitterly. Just then, a poor woman came up to her and said: Oh, beautiful maiden, may I please have a drink from your pitcher, from I am very thirsty. Why, of course you may. 

她开始像对待仆人一样对待菲奥娜，把她拒之门外。她会让她一个人在厨房吃饭，不停地工作。除了日常的家务，菲奥娜每天还要去两次，在离家一英里半远的地方打水，然后把满满一罐水带回家。一天，她来到泉水边，坐在那里痛哭。正在这时，一个可怜的女人走到她跟前，对她说：美丽的姑娘，我非常渴，可以从你的瓶子里喝一口水吗?啊，你当然可以。
