OK, I got to get geared up.
好了，准备上场了。
I just celebrated my 60th birthday, which is wonderful.
我刚过了60岁生日，非常棒。
I’ve been racing motorcycles since 1969. I was 11 years old.
我1969年就开始骑摩托车赛车，那时我才11岁。
And the first time I did it was just, that was it for me. I thought this was, this is what I want to do as long as God allows me.
第一次尝试的时候我感觉，我生来就是赛车的。只要我还活着，这就是我毕生的事业。
My sister also raced. She was the very first women’s national champion ever in 1974.
我的姐姐也赛车，她是1974年第一名女性全国冠军，
They sent her to Europe to race with the men there. She raced all over Europe for about three months.
然后被派欧洲与男赛车手一起参赛。她在三个月里打遍欧洲，
I stayed back.
而我就待在美国，
I was still very young and stuff.
因为那个时候我还太小了。
But, gradually got better and better and better and then I was recognized by Yamaha and I was approached by Yamaha and I got a factory ride with Yamaha.
但是渐渐地我的技术越来越好，然后被雅马哈相中了，雅马哈来找我，然后我就成为了雅马哈的厂牌骑手。
And that was, factory means I didn’t go to a shop and buy the bike myself.
所谓厂牌骑手就是你不需要自己购置摩托车，
The factory, whoever makes Honda, whoever makes Yamahas, they came to me and said “we want to give you a bike and mechanics.
本田、雅马哈的大厂会来找我说“我们给你提供摩托车和机械师，
We will pay for all your races, you know, and we’ll pay for everything. We just want you to race our bikes.”
给你报销参赛费用，支付你的一切费用。我们只需要你骑我们的摩托车参加比赛。”
People think it’s way cool now. It was back when I was in high school.
现在人们可能感觉骑摩托车很酷。但是在我上高中的时候，
They assumed I, I hate to say this, they assumed I was a lesbian,
他们说我……我真的不想说出来，他们说我是女同，
because there, it was a stereotype that women that rode motorcycles were butch and, kind of, you know, just like and that couldn’t be farther from the truth.
因为那时人们有一种偏见，认为骑摩托车的女人就是伪男，这肯定是错的。
You usually have to have six people in your, like six girls to have your own class, to race out on the track by yourself without the man, without, just, right.
一般赛车训练课需要六个人，例如六个女生组成一个训练班，然后开始在赛道上比赛，全程没有男性。
My Dad would walk up and down the pits and offer to pay the girls entries, so that we can have our own class.
我父亲有时候会到赛场来为女孩支付报名费，这样我们就可以组成一个自己的训练班。
Sometimes we got it, sometimes we didn’t. But if we didn’t then we raced with the boys.
有时候我们能凑齐六个女生，凑不齐的话就跟男孩子一起比赛。
Lori’s my best friend. I take pride in her going out and racing and she won six out of six races today.
洛里是我最好的朋友，我为她赛车感到骄傲，她今天六场全胜。
And I love that, and that’s why I prep her bikes for her and get her out, you know, and stuff.
我很喜欢她的状态，所以我会为她修理摩托，让她安心比赛。
So, I have been beat by women and they’re professionals.
我有时也会输给女赛车手，毕竟她们也是专业的。
I didn’t think anything of it. I didn’t say, oh they got a better bike or this or that. No, they flat beat me.
我觉得没关系，我不会说，她的摩托车比我好之类的话，我就是输给她了。
The bottom line is if you go out, and you put in the work you do the training, you’re going to be the faster person.
我们的原则就是只要你上了赛道，开始了训练，你就必须比其他人快，
Because this is not a sport where you just show up.
因为这不是一个轻松的运动。
The problem is the promoters of the big races and things don’t, we’re like an afterthought.
现在的问题是出在大型赛事的组织者身上，他们似乎把女赛车手当做事后才需要考虑的对象。
So, they don’t include the pro women racing on their schedule.
所以女职业赛车手不会被纳入到赛程中。
A few years back they did, you know, we would, and even be televised.
几年前比赛还有电视转播，
But we would be on either a day that wasn’t televised.
但我们就会被安排在没有转播的时候比赛。
They would be racing on a day that wasn’t televised or they would have their race during the commercials and stuff.
要么就是我们比赛的当天不转播，要么就是比赛的时候插入广告之类的。
So, you still didn’t, you know, there was still not the respect that needed.
所以女赛车手仍然没有得到应得的尊重。
These girls are fast and they’re dedicated and they’re strong and, you know, and they have the same love that any of the men do.
但这些女孩子也骑的很快，也很投入，也很厉害，她们跟其他男赛车手一样热爱赛车。
Oh my.

Oh, it was so much fun.
