A swim游泳

Toad and Frog went down to the river.

蟾蜍和青蛙一起来到河边。

“What a day for a swim,” said Frog.

真是个游泳的好天气！青蛙准备下水了。

“Yes,” said Toad. “I will go behind these rocks and put on my bathingsuit.”

蟾蜍说他要到石头后面去，干嘛呢？他要换泳衣bathing suit

“I don’t wear a bathing suit,” said Frog. “Well, I do,” said Toad.

青蛙摇摇头，我可不穿什么泳衣。不过蟾蜍坚持要穿。

“After I put on my bathing suit, you must not look at me until I getinto the water.”

我穿好泳衣之后，你可不许看！

“Why not?” asked Frog.

为什么不能看，青蛙问。

“Because I look funny in my bathing suit. That is why,” said Toad.

因为我穿泳衣看起来有点滑稽，蟾蜍嘟囔着说。

Frog closed his eyes when Toad came out from behind the rocks. Toad waswearing his bathing suit.

当蟾蜍穿着泳衣从石头后面走出来的时候，青蛙闭上了眼睛。

“Don’t peek,” he said.

不许偷看哦！蟾蜍叮嘱青蛙。

Frog and Toad jumped into the water. They swam all afternoon.  

他们俩都跳进了水里，游了整整一下午。

Frog swam fast and made big splashes. Toad swam slowly and made smallersplashes.

Splash是指游泳时溅起的水花，哗啦哗啦，青蛙游得很快，溅起了很大的水花，而蟾蜍慢慢地游，只翻腾起小水花。

A turtle came along the riverbank.

一只乌龟沿着河岸慢慢走过来。

“Frog, tell that turtle to go away,” said Toad. “I do not want him tosee me in my bathing suit when I come out of the river.”

蟾蜍叫青蛙去把乌龟赶走，他不想让乌龟看到他穿泳衣的样子。

 Frog swam over to the turtle. “Turtle,”said Frog, “you will have to go away.”

于是青蛙游过去对乌龟说，请你走开！

 “Why should I?” asked theturtle. “Because Toad thinks that he looks funny in his bathing suit, and hedoes not want you to see him,” said Frog.

为什么？乌龟很疑惑，因为蟾蜍不想让你看到他穿着泳衣的样子，他看起来很滑稽。青蛙老老实实地回答。

Some lizards were sitting nearby. “Does Toad really look funny in hisbathing suit?” they asked.

几只蜥蜴正在附近晒太阳，他们问，蟾蜍的泳衣真的看起来很滑稽吗？ 

A snake crawled out of the grass. “If Toad looks funny in his bathingsuit,” said the snake, “then I, for one, want to see him.”

一条蛇爬出草丛说，如果蟾蜍的泳衣真这么滑稽，我倒想看看。

“We want to see him too,” said two dragonflies.

两只蜻蜓飞过来说，我们也想看。

“Me too,” said a field mouse. “I have not seen anything funny in a longtime.”

一只小田鼠也来凑热闹，我也想看，我都好久没看过好玩的东西了。

Frog swam back to Toad. “I am sorry, Toad,” he said. “Everyone wants tosee how you will look.”

青蛙游到蟾蜍那告诉他，大家都想看他穿泳衣的样子。

“Then I will stay right here until they go away,” said Toad.

那我就呆在水里直到他们离开，蟾蜍倔强地说。

The turtle and the lizards and the snake and the dragonflies and thefield mouse all sat on the riverbank. They waited for Toad to come out of thewater.

乌龟，蜥蜴，蛇，蜻蜓和田鼠一起坐在河岸边，等着蟾蜍从水里出来。

“Please,” cried Frog, “please go away!” But no one went away.

青蛙恳求他们离开，可是大家一个都没走。

Toad was getting colder and colder. He was beginning to shiver andsneeze.

蟾蜍在水里泡着越来越冷，他开始发抖和打喷嚏了。

“I will have to come out of the water,” said Toad. “I am catching acold.”

蟾蜍坚持不住了，我得出来，不然要感冒了。

Toad climbed out of the river. The water dripped out of his bathing suitand down onto his feet.

蟾蜍从河里爬上来，他穿了一件又大又长的黑白条纹游泳衣，水从他的泳衣上一直流到了脚上。

The turtle laughed. The lizards laughed. The snake laughed.

乌龟笑了，蜥蜴笑了，蛇也一起大笑。

“What are you laughing at, Frog?” said Toad. “I am laughing at you,Toad,” said Frog, “because you do look funny in your bathing suit.”

蟾蜍问青蛙，你在笑什么，青蛙说，在笑你呀，因为你穿着泳衣真的看起来很滑稽。

 “Of course I do,” said Toad. Thenhe picked up his clothes and went home.

当然咯！蟾蜍生气的捡起衣服回家了。
