Have you everseen an airship (飞艇)  before? It’s like a submarine (潜水艇) flying in the sky. This year, you might see one here inChina!
Chinese researchers designed the airship AS700,according to Science and Technology Daily. It will go on its first flight (飞行) in the second half of 2021. It can carry up to nine peopleand travel 700 kilometers within 10 hours. 
“Airships have sightseeing services (观光服务). They can also transport (运输) people and goods,” saidZhang Jinhua, senior designer of the AS700. 
Different from airplanes, airships can take offwithout a runway (跑道). They don’t need wings (机翼), either. Like a balloon,they are filled with gas (气体) that is lighter than air. The gas can lift (升起) the airship into the sky. This also makes airships safer thanplanes. “The airship can land on the ground safely even if its engines andoperation system (操作系统) fail,” Zhang said. 
The AS700 has very large windows. People can get agood view of the scenery outside. It can also carry high-definition cameras (高清相机) to take pictures and do research.
