Tonight I can write the saddest lines.

Write, for example, ‘The night is shattered 

and the blue stars shiver in the distance.’

The night wind revolves in the sky and sings.

I loved her, and sometimes she loved me too.

Through nights like this one I held her in my arms.

I kissed her again and again under the endless sky.

To think that I do not have her.  To feel that I have lost her.

今夜我写下最悲伤的诗篇。

To hear the immense night, still more immense without her.

And the verse falls to the soul like dew to the pasture.

只要听到夜的辽阔，因为失去她而更辽阔无际。

诗句滑落灵魂，如同露珠跌向牧场。

What does it matter that my love could not keep her.

The night is shattered and she is not with me.

我的爱留不住她，这又能怎样？

夜碎成一片一片，她已遥在天边。

This is all. In the distance someone is singing. In the distance.

My soul is not satisfied that it has lost her.

My sight searches for her as though to go to her.

My heart looks for her, and she is not with me.

The same night whitening the same trees.

We, of that time, are no longer the same.

I no longer love her, that’s certain, but how I loved her.

My voice tried to find the wind to touch her hearing.

我已不再爱她，无比确定，但我的爱曾经多么坚定。

Another’s. She will be another’s. Like my kisses before.

Her voice. Her bright body. Her infinite eyes.

I no longer love her, that’s certain, but maybe I love her.

Love is so short; forgetting is so long.

my soul is not satisfied that it has lost her.

　　“Tonight I can write the saddest lines”是一首关于失恋的诗歌。

　　作者巴勃鲁·聂鲁达(Pablo Neruda, 1904-1973)，智利当代著名诗人、外交家，是20世纪最伟大的诗人之一。

　　他13岁开始发表诗作，1923年发表第一部诗集《黄昏》，1924年发表成名作《二十首情诗和一支绝望的歌》，于1971年获得诺贝尔文学奖。

　　聂鲁达的一生有两个主题，一个是政治，另一个是爱情。这首诗就来源于他最为著名的诗集——《二十首情诗和一支绝望的歌》中。在这本诗集中，聂鲁达不仅在赞美爱情，而且是在赞美性，因为它更接近一个男人与一个女人的关系的本质。
