【双语演讲稿】
I was 32 when I was shot. The doctors telling me the amount of damage potentially amputating my arm. I have no use of my left hand. I got tubes coming out of everywhere. I was so weak from all the blood loss. I had nurses helped me to use the bathroom. I remember laying in that bed, thinking myself like it is me, like is this finally the end? I said no. And my wife came back into the room. I emotion her and said, hey hand me my pen because I couldn't talk, I can only write. Told my wife I said I will no longer, I will not feel sorry for myself. I will set the example, be the light in the darkness, and that's when I wrote that song.
我遭遇枪击时是32岁，医生告诉我我的手臂可能会被截肢。我的无法使用左手，当时身上到处都有管子。由于失血过多，我非常虚弱。护士们还帮我上厕所。我记得躺在那张床上，想着这就是我，我就只能这样了吗？我的回答是，不是。我的妻子回到房间时，我让她把笔递给我。因为我不能说话，我只能写字。我告诉她，我说我不会为自己感到遗憾。我将树立榜样，成为黑暗中的光，这就是我写这首歌的时候。
And I said attention to all who enter here, if you're coming in this room with sadness or sorrow, don't bother. This room you're about to enter is a room of fun , optimism and intense rapid regrow. If you're not prepared for that, go elsewhere. It was originally written on a regular piece of printer paper that's what I was just writing on. A couple days later somebody else came in the room and we have put that white piece of paper on the door and they totally missed it. And came into the room kind of with this same sense of pity. I told my wife, I said, hey, I need something bigger, brighter, bolder that people will not miss. I want everybody to read it when they came in. And she went and got that big orange red piece of poster board and it went on the door. And it was at that point that New York firefighter took a picture of it, wrote about it, and it went viral from that point forward.
我说，请所有进入这里的人注意，如果你是带着悲伤或难过的心情进入这个房间，那就不要打扰我了。你进入的这个房间是一个充满乐趣、乐观和有生命力的房间。如果你没有准备好，就走吧。这句话最初是写在一张普通的打印纸上，这就是我用纸笔写的。几天后，又有人来到房间，我们把那张白纸贴在门上，他们完全没有看到，还带着同样的怜悯进入房间。我告诉妻子，我说我需要更大、更亮、更大胆的纸张，人们才不会无视，我希望每个人在进来时都能读到它。她就去拿了那块大的橙红色的海报板，贴在了门上。刚好纽约消防员拍了一张照片，写下了关于它的内容，从那时起，这块板子就火起来了。
Interviewer: Why though? Why cultivate that mentality like what's the purpose?

And usually when there's a bad situation, there's a natural tendency to focus inward on the pain and misery and all these things, but the reality it's on you to take that first step. The victim mindset it's a mindset, well, that's not fair. Well you're right, it's not. But guess what. Sitting there in focusing all your blame and time on the fact that your perfect plan or something happened or your world got thrown upside down accomplices nothing. Nothing. You will stay wherever you are and you will achieve the limit of what you believe. If you believe you are never going to get out of the neighborhood you grew up. And your right, you will not. And if you're waiting for somebody else to save you, it most likely is not going to happen.
通常，当遇见糟糕的情况时，人会自然而然的把注意力集中在痛苦和不幸的事上。但现实是，你要迈出这第一步。受害者心态认为：这不公平。的确，这不公平。但你猜怎么着，你坐在那里，把你所有的责备和时间都集中在你的完美计划、发生的坏事或你的世界崩塌的事上，你永远止步在这里。如果你止步不前，你将实现你所相信的极限。如果你相信你永远不会离开长大的社区，那你就不会。如果你在等待别人来拯救你，那也不会发生。
And actually what I have come to find over time is even if someone comes to save you, if you don't believe in yourself, if you don't. We can not drag anybody off the x. You can't drag a victim off the x because guess what, they will climb right back on to it. It's only an individual that believes in themselves. And greatness lies in every single individual. And the only thing stopping an individual from being successful is that. You know, it doesn't guarantee it, I will say that. But I tell you what, we will guarantee you never moving forward, is if you buy into that victim mindset and just sit on that x forever, waiting for some your miraculous thing to come along and save you. Because if you don't start that process, that will never happen.
事实上，随着时间的推移，我发现即使有人来拯救你，如果你不相信自己，那也不行。我们不能把任何人从X点上拖下来。因为你猜怎么着，他们会马上爬到X点上。只有相信自己的人能获救。每个人的心中都藏着一个了不起的自己，而阻止一个人成功的唯一原因就是如此。这并不能保证你成功，但我告诉你，如果你认同那种受害者心态，并永远坐在那个X上，等待奇迹出现并拯救你，我保证你永远不会前进。因为如果你不开始这个过程，你永远不会成功。
