[00:00:15.20]He is covered with gold.
[00:00:18.30]He has two blue sapphires for eyes.
[00:00:22.70]On his sword there is a big red ruby.
[00:00:27.20]He is very beautiful.
[00:00:30.60]Everyone in the city likes the statue of the Happy Prince.
[00:00:36.00]'Look at the Happy Prince'
[00:00:39.10]says a mother to her little boy.
[00:00:42.40]'He never cries.
[00:00:44.40]He is always happy.'
[00:00:47.90]One night a little Swallow flies over the city.
[00:00:52.60]His friends are in Egypt and he wants to go there too.
[00:00:58.00]He sees the statue on the tall column.
[00:01:01.50]'Oh, what a beautiful statue!
[00:01:05.50]I have a golden bedroom.
[00:01:08.30]I can sleep here, near the Prince's feet,' he says to himself.
[00:01:14.40]He puts his head under his wing.
[00:01:18.20]Suddenly a big drop of water falls on him.
[00:01:22.70]Then another drop falls.
[00:01:25.50]'How strange!
[00:01:27.80]There aren't any clouds in the sky.
[00:01:30.90]But it's raining!'
[00:01:33.40]Another drop falls and the Swallow looks up.
[00:01:38.60]The Happy Prince is crying.
[00:01:42.50]There are tears on his golden face.
[00:01:46.60]His face is very beautiful.
[00:01:49.80]The little Swallow is sad.
[00:01:52.30]'Who are you?' he asks.
[00:01:55.20]'I am the Happy Prince.'
[00:01:57.70]'Why are you crying?' asks the Swallow.
[00:02:01.70]'The people in the city call me the Happy Prince.
[00:02:05.30]In the castle I was happy.
[00:02:08.10]Everything there was beautiful.
[00:02:10.70]But now I am on this high column
[00:02:13.70]and I can see all the misery of my city.
[00:02:17.30]My heart is made of metal but I cry.
[00:02:21.10]'Look over there!
[00:02:23.10]There is a poor house.
[00:02:25.40]One of the windows is open.
[00:02:27.80]I can see a woman.
[00:02:30.00]She is very poor.
[00:02:32.30]There is a boy in bed.
[00:02:34.50]He is not well.
[00:02:36.40]He wants some oranges.
[00:02:39.10]His mother has nothing to give him except water.
[00:02:42.80]He is crying.
[00:02:44.60]Swallow, little Swallow,
[00:02:47.10]can you take her the ruby from my sword?'
[00:02:49.90]'I must go to Egypt,' says the Swallow. 'My friends are there.
[00:02:55.50]They fly up and down the Nile river.
[00:02:58.80]They talk to the flowers.
[00:03:01.10]They sleep in the tomb of the great King.'
[00:03:04.40]'Swallow, Swallow, little Swallow,'
[00:03:07.70]says the Prince, 'can you stay with me for one night and be my messenger?
[00:03:13.70]The boy is very ill
[00:03:15.60]and his mother is very sad.'
[00:03:18.80]The Happy Prince is sad.
[00:03:21.90]The little Swallow is sorry. 'It is very cold here,' he says,
[00:03:27.90]'but I can stay with you for one night and be your messenger.'
[00:03:33.40]'Thank you, little Swallow,' says the Prince.
[00:03:38.10]The little Swallow takes out the red ruby from the Prince's sword.
[00:03:43.80]Then he flies away with the ruby.
[00:03:46.90]He flies over the houses of the city.
[00:03:50.40]He passes by the church and sees statues of white angels.
[00:03:56.50]He passes by the palace and hears lovely music.
[00:04:03.10]He flies over the river and sees the ships.
[00:04:07.40]At last he comes to the poor house and looks inside.
[00:04:13.30]The sick boy is in bed
[00:04:15.50]and his mother is sleeping.
[00:04:18.80]The little Swallow puts the ruby on the table.
[00:04:23.00]Then he flies back to the Happy Prince and says, 'The night is cold,
[00:04:29.40]but I am warm now.'
