Yesterday, I called GuDe Dental Clinic to schedule a teeth cleaning for 3 p.m. today.
I tend to develop a lot of tartar on my teeth every year.
My oldest son doesn't brush his teeth properly, and his teeth have a lot of black stains, so I'm taking him along to get it sorted out.
Overall, my teeth are relatively healthy. About 10 years ago, I had a small cavity in one of my molars which was filled, but otherwise, no major issues.
The correct way to clean teeth involves three steps: flossing after meals, brushing correctly, and getting a professional cleaning at the dental clinic once a year to avoid any problems.
It wasn't until after graduating from college that I developed the habit of getting an annual teeth cleaning.
I didn't know many basic things when I was young. Was it the parents' responsibility for not teaching or guiding children to learn these things?
It's only as adults that I realize what I didn't know, like how to brush teeth properly, hold a pen correctly, or use chopsticks the right way.
Is this due to lack of parental guidance on where to learn these skills?
It's important to keep learning throughout life.
