among
between
The difference between these two words are simple. Among and between are both prepositions. Among always implies three or more. Between is generally used with just two things.
Example:
John was certainly among the most talented students in his class.
John always comes between Frank and myself.
Practice
The student couldn’t decide between staying in China for college or going abroad.
The boy is the top student among his classmates.
Americans had to decide between Trump or Clinton for president.
Among all the people in the world, most are kind and honest.
When buying a car, I couldn’t decide between a Ford or a VW.
Among expensive cars, I think Buick is the best.
Learn these and learn to use them the right way. These words are often used wrong by English learners. You’ll use them right as you follow this lesson.
