The Forbidden City, also known as the Palace Museum, inaugurates an exhibition to celebrate its 600th birthday.
紫禁城,又称故宫博物院,举办展览以庆祝其建成600周年。
Since its completion in 1420, the Forbidden City had served as the imperial palace of the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) Dynasties, with 24 emperors living and ruling there.
自1420年建成以来,紫禁城曾作为明清两代帝王宫殿,共有24位皇帝在此生活并治理国家。
The exhibition titled "Everlasting splendor: Six centuries at the Forbidden City" displays more than 450 cultural relics and historical photos. Some of the exhibits are displayed for the first time.
主题为“丹宸永固——紫禁城建成六百年”的展览展出了450余件文化遗迹与历史照片。其中一些展品为首次展出。
The exhibition is divided into three parts.
此次展览共分为三个部分。
The first part explains why the Forbidden City was planned and laid out. The second part, "Inclusiveness," focuses on the Forbidden City's look in ethnic elements. The third part shows how the imperial palace was given new vitality after becoming a public museum and World Heritage Site and welcoming visitors both from home and abroad.
第一部分解释了紫禁城规划和布局的原因。第二部分“有容乃大”聚焦于紫禁城在民族元素中的样貌。第三部分展现了紫禁城在成为公共博物馆和世界遗产地,以及在迎接国内外游客之后,如何被注入新的活力。
The exhibition will last till November 15.
