Authentic Chaozhou Food 地道潮州美食
In most Southeast Asian countries like Singapore and Malaysia, it is called Chwee Kueh in English or (水粿) in Mandarin. However, here in Chaozhou we call it (咸水粿), literally, Salted Water Cake. The mere mention of the name induces frowns and inquisitive looks. So, to make it clearer, we can call it Steamed Rice Flour Cake with Preserved Radish Topping. It’s a little bit long, but it makes sense to foreigners.
