The 22nd Shenzhen Reading Month has just begun in this mellow autumn. From November 1st to 31st, under the theme of "Open Up a New Vision", more than 1,400 cultural activities of over 260 categories will be curated to stage a brand-new reading feast for the general public and ignite fresh enthusiasm for reading in the city.

Reading Month branch venues to be set up in districts for the first time

Shenzhen Reading Month is the earliest and largest mass reading festival in China, and is an important cultural icon of the city. Adhering to and carrying on with the rich conception, spirit and practices accumulated in previous events, this year's Reading Month has combined its 3 major functions: "cultural reminder", "literati gathering" and "reading festival", proposed the innovative 1+3 (N) event structure, and for the first time set up branch venues in various district. Following the principles of "quality", "taste" and "character", and highlighting the features of "all-area, all-scenario, universal participation and omnimedia）", the event aims to build an activity matrix featuring cultural appreciation and avant-garde spirit.

With the advent of the Reading Month, the 22nd Shenzhen Reading Month Book Recommendations were officially released on November 1st. The recommendations were announced after 3 months of public recommendations, expert selection, panel review and committee decision. Eventually, 30 General Recommendations, 10 High School Recommendations and 10 Primary School Recommendations were selected after reviewed by the Shenzhen Reading Month Steering Committee.

During the event, the recommended books will be on display in six book malls across the city (Central Book Mall, Luohu Book Mall, Nanshan Book Mall, Bao’an Book Mall, Longgang Book Mall and Longhua Book Mall). Meanwhile, the Office of Shenzhen Book Month Organizing Committee has invited five experts and scholars, including Yin Changlong, Wang Shaopei, Ma Qing, Yan Lingjun and Yuan Xiaofeng, to introduce to the readers the recommended books of this year in short videos, which will be posted on the WeChat Official Accounts of Shenzhen Reading Month and Shenzhen Release.

18 major activities to be curated during the Reading Month

In addition, as an important platform for the promotion of mass reading, Shenzhen Library will hold more than 1,400 activities of various types during the Reading Month with a focus on science education, ecological studies, geographic discovery, interstellar exploration, futuristic creation, science fiction and others. 18 major events will be curated, including the "Shenzhen-Macao Cultural Interaction and Mutual Appreciation" Series, Shenzhen Social Science Achievements Release, the 5th "Read in Autumn" Public Reading Event, the 7th "Great Thinker" Shenzhen University Student Debate Competition, "Youth Reading on Campus”, "Flowing Voice", etc.

It is worth mentioning that, besides the three major thematic sections, this year's Reading Month also comes with a special offering dedicated to the Centenary of the the CPC: a classic poetry reading themed "A New Realm" and CPC-related lectures themed "Holistic Development Outlook" and “Literary Classics Spanning a Century”, where readers will be able to better understand the glorious history of the CPC over the past 100 years through classic poems and expert interpretation.

During the Reading Month, a large number of celebrated writers and cultural scholars will be invited to Shenzhen to bring inspirations to the city, enhance the reading taste of the public and jointly present a "knowledge carnival" through resonance of thoughts. Moreover, the photo exhibition themed "'Live local, live global' - the interface of life in an international city", jointly organized by Shenzhen Foreign Affairs Office and SEZ Daily, and hosted by Shenzhen Foundation for International Exchange and Cooperation and Shenzhen Central Book Mall, will run through the Spring Festival of 2022. The exhibition is on display at the Tower of Light in the north zone of the Book Mall for the public to enjoy the progress of internationalization of the city.

第二季第十二集：城市资讯｜第22届深圳读书月推出260余项、1400多场阅读文化活动

秋风送爽，第二十二届深圳读书月如约而至。11月1日至30日期间，本届读书月以“打开一个新视界”为年度主题，推出260余项、1400多场阅读文化活动，打造一场全新全民读书盛会，再度掀起鹏城阅读新热潮。

读书月首次设立各区分会场

深圳读书月是国内创办最早、规模最大的群众读书节，是深圳重要的文化名片。秉持和延续历届读书月积累的丰厚理念、精神和实践，本届读书月凝炼了“文化的闹钟”“城市的雅集”“阅读的节日”3大功能定位，创新地提出1＋3（N）活动架构，并首次设立各区分会场，坚持“品质”“品位”“品格”原则，突出“全域、全景、全民、全媒”特色，构建兼具文化品位与先锋精神的活动矩阵。

随着读书月的到来，第二十二届深圳读书月推荐书目也于11月1日正式发布。“深圳读书月推荐书目”经过征集、专家评选、专家审读以及组委会审定历时三个月。经深圳读书月指导委员会专家评定，共选“藏书与阅读”30本、“优秀中学生”10本、“优秀小学生”10本。

读书月期间，推荐书目在深圳六大书城（中心书城、罗湖书城、南山书城、宝安书城、龙岗书城、龙华书城）展出。深圳读书月组委会办公室还邀请五位专家学者——尹昌龙、王绍培、马庆、严凌君、袁晓峰，对本届读书月推荐书目以短视频形式向深圳读者讲解推荐，并通过深圳读书月、深圳发布公众号进行发布。

18项重点活动在读书月期间开展

此外，作为全民阅读推广的重要窗口和阵地，深圳图书馆于读书月期间举办1400余场丰富多彩的活动，聚焦科学科普、生态博物、地理发现、星际探索、未来创造、科幻想象等领域，还包括“深圳·澳门文化交融互鉴”系列活动、深圳社会科学成果发布、第五届“阅在深秋”公共读书活动、第七届“思维之星”深圳大学生思辨大赛、“青少年阅读基地”进校园、“流淌的声音”读书月朗诵沙龙等18项重点活动。

值得一提的是，除3大主题板块外，本届读书月还推出1个年度钜献，即“献礼建党百年”年度特别策划，组织《崭新的境界》经典诗文朗诵会、“发展大局观”“文学经典映照百年”文学党课，通过经典诗篇的呈现和专家的重磅专题解读，向市民读者展示党的百年光辉历程。

读书月期间，众多知名作家、文化学者受邀做客深圳，以相互激荡的思想启迪城市智慧、提升阅读品位，共同打造“知识狂欢节”。此外，由深圳市外事办和深圳特区报联合主办，深圳市国际交流合作基金会与深圳书城中心城承办的"‘国际化在身边’——国际化城市的生活界面"图片展将续期至2022年春节后，地点位于书城北区光之塔，欢迎市民前来领略深圳城市的国际化发展成果。
