好朋友 Friends

Every morning, when Charlie Rooster struttedinto the barn to wake the other animals.

每天早上，公鸡咕咕要负责叫醒农场里的动物，

Johnny Mouse and fat Percy went with him tohelp.

小老鼠强强和小猪波波都会在一旁帮忙。

Good friends always help each other.

因为，好朋友总是要相互帮忙的。

Then, they wheeled their bicycle out,

然后，他们会骑上脚踏车，

Set off for their morning ride.

一起在晨光里兜风。

They could ride down the roughest paths andup the steepest cliffs.

无论路多么颠簸，山多么陡峭。

No curve was too sharp, no puddle was toodeep to stop them.

弯道多么曲折，水洼多么深，都阻挡不了他们。

One day, they played hide-and-seek by thevillage pond.

有一天，他们在村里的池塘边捉迷藏，

When Jonny Mouse was hiding, he discoveredan old boat lying in the tall grass.

小老鼠强强躲在芦苇丛里时，发现一艘旧船。

He showed his friends, and they decided toplay pirates.

他们三个便立下共同的志愿，要成为海盗。

Good friends always decide things together.

因为，好朋友总是一起做决定的。

Jonny Mouse took the tiller,

小老鼠强强掌舵，

Charlie Rooster opened his wings to makethe sail,

公鸡咕咕张开翅膀，扬起了帆。

Fat Percy plugged up the hole in the sideof the boat by sitting on it.

小猪波波充当软木塞，堵住了船底的破洞。

They sailed out on the open water,

他们就这样在宽阔的水面上航行冒险。

As the day went on, they felt very braveand bold.

一天下来，他们觉得自己变得更大胆，更勇敢了。

They conquered the village pond.

他们征服了整个池塘。

But hunger finally sent them back to theshore.

可是，饥饿还是把他们赶回了岸上。

First they tried to catch a fish.

本来他们想钓鱼吃，

But their stomachs rumbled so loudly, andthey frightened all the fish away.

可是，肚子咕噜咕噜叫得好大声，把鱼儿都吓跑了，

Then they went looking for cherries.

他们只好去采樱桃。

They shared them.

他们把采到的樱桃分着吃。

Some for Jonny Mouse, some for CharlieRooster,

一颗分给小老鼠强强，一颗分给公鸡咕咕。

and twice as many for Percy.

两颗分给小猪波波。

Jonny Mouse didn’t mind, but CharlieRooster said it was unfair.

小老鼠强强没什么意见，不过，公鸡咕咕觉得不公平。

So they gave him the cherry stones.

所以，他又分到了所有的樱桃核。

Friends are always fair.

因为，好朋友总是要公平对待的。

They ate so many cherries and they all gotstomachaches,

他们吃了太多樱桃，所以全都闹肚子了。

As evening fell and the shadows grew longer,

当夕阳西下，影子拖得好长好长的时候，

They bicycled home.

他们骑上脚踏车回家。

Behind the henhouse, near the water barrel,

在鸡舍后面，水桶旁边，

They swore to be friends forever.

他们三个发誓要做一辈子好朋友。

Good friends always stick together.

“因为，好朋友是永不分离的。” 他们说。

They decided to spend the night in JonnyMouse’s house.

那天晚上，他们打算在小老鼠强强家来睡觉。

But Charlie Rooster got stuck in thedoorway.

可是，公鸡咕咕被卡在洞口了。

Then fat Percy invited them to spend thenight with him.

于是，他们又决定到小猪波波家过夜。

But Jonny Mouse’s nose is allergic in thepigsty.

不过，小老鼠强强鼻子太敏感了，它不想睡在猪舍里。

Finally, Charlie Rooster suggested sleepingin the henhouse, they tried to rest on a perch,

最后，公鸡咕咕提议到鸡舍的木杆上睡觉，

but it broke.

可是，木杆断了。

So, they said good night to each other andwent to their own beds.

他们只好互道晚安，各自回到自己的床上去。

“Sometimes good friends can’t be together.”They said.

“有时候，好朋友也不能一直在一起。” 他们说。

But that night they dreamed about eachother the way true friends do.

可是，他们在梦里又见面了。因为，好朋友总是会出现在彼此的梦中。
