1. 5 DIE, 48 MISSING AFTER MINE COLLAPSES IN INNER MONGOLIA

5 people died, 6 were injured and another 48 were listed as missing after an open-pit【露天开采的】 coal mine collapsed yesterday in Alxa League, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. President Xi Jinping demanded all-out efforts during search and rescue operations. Zhang Hong tells us more.

昨天，内蒙古自治区阿拉善盟的一个露天煤矿发生坍塌，5人死亡，6人受伤，48人失踪。（2月23日22:30最新数据：6人死亡，47人失联。）习近平主席要求全力以赴进行搜救。张泓带来更多报道。

The mine collapsed around 1pm yesterday in Alxa League, Inner Mongolia. Things became more complicated after a massive landslide【山体滑坡】 temporarily halted search and rescue efforts around 6pm. Two of the injured were listed in intensive care, while the other four were in a stable condition.

昨天下午1点左右，内蒙古阿拉善盟的煤矿发生坍塌。下午6点左右，一场大规模的山体滑坡使得搜救工作暂停，情况变得更加复杂。两名伤员被送入重症监护室，而另外四名伤员情况稳定。

“I just started working at 1:15pm. I saw rocks falling and the situation was quickly getting more and more serious. An evacuation【撤离】 was organized, but it was too late. The mountain just collapsed.”  

“我当时就是刚一上班。（下午）1点15分上班以后发现，山上往下掉（石）渣，然后看这种情况越来越严重了。然后咱们就组织撤离。但是已经撤不及时了，接着山体是坍塌了。”

National Emergency RescueTeam experts are working with local doctors and nurses to treat each patient. Police have detained people as they investigate what caused the collapse. The site used to be an underground coal mine, but was converted into an open-pit mine in 2012. Production was halted【中止】 in 2018, but the mine owned by Inner Mongolia Alxa Left Banner Xin Jing Coal Co.was permitted to reopen in April 2021.

国家紧急医学救援队的专家正在与当地医务人员合作，一人一策制定诊疗方案。公安机关已介入调查坍塌的具体原因，控制了相关人员。事发煤矿曾经是井工矿，但在2012年被改造成露天矿。该煤矿属于内蒙古阿拉善左旗新井煤业有限公司，在2018年中止了生产，但在2021年4月恢复生产建设。

A helicopter sightseeing tour began operations today in Pujiang Town, Minhang District, the recreational【娱乐的】 flight service is the first of its kind in the city. Tang Xiaofan has more.

闵行区浦江镇的直升机游览项目今天开业运营，这项娱乐飞行服务在本市尚属首次。唐晓帆带来更多报道。

The tours use a four-seater R44 light helicopter, one of the world’s most widely-used civilian helicopters, produced by the US-based Robinson Helicopter Company. The sightseeing flights are currently limited to the area around Pujiang Town, but other flights are being planned for the near future, including popular scenic spots like Shanghai Disney Resort, the Huangpu River and the Zhoupu Flower Sea Ecological Park.

观光飞行使用的是美国罗宾逊直升机公司制造的R44型飞机，是全球最广泛的民用直升机之一。目前，观光飞行区域仅限于浦江镇周边地区，但包括上海迪士尼度假区、黄浦江和周浦花海生态园等在内的热门景区观光飞行也在筹备中。

Each helicopter has a pilot and a co-pilot, each of them with over 600 logged【记入日志的】 hours of flight time.

3. U.N. CHIEF WARNS AGAINST ESCALATION OF UKRAINE CONFLICT

联合国秘书长警告俄乌冲突升级

The UN General Assembly resumed【恢复】 its 11th emergency special session yesterday, on the eve of the anniversary of the beginning of the war in Ukraine, to consider a new draft resolution aimed at restoring peace. Stephen Rancourt has more.

昨天，在俄乌冲突爆发一周年前夕，联合国大会恢复第11次紧急特别会议，以审议一项旨在恢复和平的新决议草案。Stephen Rancourt带来更多报道。

During the session, United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres urged the concerned parties to stop the conflict and called for the UN Charter to be respected.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba introduced a draft resolution, putting forward a 10-point Peace Formula outlined by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The peace plan includes nuclear, food and energy security; the release of prisoners and deported persons; the implementation of the UN Charter and restoration of territorial sovereignty of Ukraine based on its internationally recognized borders. Vasily Nebenzya, Russia’s Permanent Representative to the UN, stressed at the session that it is the collective West, not Ukraine, that is fighting Russia in this conflict.

乌克兰外交部长德米特罗·库列巴递交了一项决议草案，提出了乌克兰总统弗拉基米尔·泽连斯基概述的十点和平方案。该和平方案包括核、粮食和能源安全、释放囚犯和被驱逐者、落实《联合国宪章》并在国际公认的边界基础上恢复乌克兰的领土完整。俄罗斯常驻联合国代表涅边贾在会上强调，与俄罗斯发生冲突的不是乌克兰，而是美西方。

Putin made his remarks two days after announcing Russia would suspend the New START Treaty, the deal that was designed to limit each country’s deployed nuclear warheads, and Russia’s last remaining arms control agreement with Washington.
