motive 和 motivation 有什么区别

motive
n. 动机，主旨; （艺术作品的） 主题，题材;

motivation
n. 动机; 动力; 诱因;

motivation根据在新牛津词源上显示：
late 19th cent. :from MOTIVE,reinforced by MOTIVATE.
而在柯林斯词典上：Your motivation for doing something is what causes you to want to do it. 动力（只有这一个意思，即积极性）
motive在柯林斯词典上：
Your motive for doing something is your reason for doing it. 动机（是做这件事的原因）
在新牛津上：
a reason for doing sth,especially one that is hidden or not obvious(尤指隐藏的)动机、缘由

在学习中也遇到这个问题了，看了中文解释还是有点不清楚两者区别，这里给一个英文参考，“Motives are inferences about what arouses people to action, while motivation explains the direction and purposefulness that Americans identify with human conduct”,一个偏向诱因，一个偏向方向和目的性
