三只小猪

Once upon a time there were three little pigs

从前有三只小猪 

and the time came for them to leave home and seek their fortunes.

到了他们需要离开家去寻找财富的时候了

Before they left,

在他们离开前

their mother told them 

妈妈对他们说：

“Whatever you do,

“无论你们做什么，

do it the best that you can

都要尽力做到最好

because that's the way to get along in the world.”

因为这是世上的生存之道

The first little pig built his house out of straw

第一只小猪用稻草盖了房子

because it was the easiest thing to do.

因为这是最简单的办法

The second little pig built his house out of sticks.

第二只小猪用木棍盖的房子

This was a little bit stronger than a straw house.

这比稻草房子稍微结实一点

The third little pig built his house out of bricks.

第三只小猪用砖头盖的房子

One night the big bad wolf,

一天晚上，一直邪恶的大灰狼

who dearly loved to eat fat little piggies,

超级喜欢吃小肥猪的大灰狼

came along and saw the first little pig in his house of straw.

来到了稻草房并看到了第一只小猪在房子里

He said "Let me in, Let me in, little pig

他说：“小猪，让我进去，让我进去，

or I'll huff and I'll puff

否则我就会使劲儿吸气吹气

and I'll blow your house in!"

然后把你的房子吹倒！”

"Not by the hair of my chinny chin chin", said the little pig.

“一根毛儿也不会让你碰到”小猪说

But of course the wolf did blow the house in

但是大灰狼当然把房子吹倒了 

and ate the first little pig.

然后吃掉了第一只小猪

The wolf then came to the house of sticks.

大灰狼来到了木棍做的房子

He said "Let me in, Let me in, little pig

“小猪，让我进去，让我进去，

or I'll huff and I'll puff

否则我就会使劲儿吸气吹气

and I'll blow your house in!"

然后把你的房子吹倒！”

“Not by the hair of my chinny chin chin", said the little pig.

“一根毛儿也不会让你碰到”小猪说

But the wolf blew that house in too,

但是大灰狼也吹倒了那座房子

and ate the second little pig.

然后把第二只小猪也吃掉了

The wolf then came to the house of bricks.

大灰狼来到了砖房子

" Let me in , let me in" cried the wolf

“让我进去，让我进去”大灰狼大喊

"Or I'll huff and I'll puff till I blow your house in"

“否则我会使劲儿吸气吹气直到把你的房子吹倒”

 "Not by the hair of my chinny chin chin" said the pig.

“一根毛儿也不会让你碰到”小猪说

Well, the wolf huffed and puffed

然后，大灰狼使劲儿吸气呼气 

but he could not blow down that brick house.

但是他怎么也不能把砖房子吹倒

But the wolf was a sly old wolf

但是大灰狼是一只狡猾的老狼

and he climbed up on the roof to look for a way into the brick house.

他爬上屋顶研究怎么能进到砖房子里

The little pig saw the wolf climb up on the roof

小猪看到大灰狼爬到了屋顶

and lit a roaring fire in the fireplace

就在壁炉里点起了一把大火

and placed on it a large kettle of water.

在火上烧了一大壶水

When the wolf finally found the hole in the chimney

大灰狼终于发现了烟囱的洞

he crawled down and KERSPLASH right into that kettle of water

他爬下来然后噗通一声正好掉进那壶水里

and that was the end of his troubles with the big bad wolf.

就这样小猪打败了麻烦邪恶的大灰狼

The next day the little pig invited his mother over.

第二天小猪请妈妈过来

She said "You see it is just as I told you.

她说：“你看，这就是我告诉你的

The way to get along in the world is to do things as well as you can."

世上的生存之道就是尽力把事情做到最好

Fortunately for that little pig,

那只小猪很幸运

he learned that lesson.

他学到了那个道理

And he just lived happily ever after!

从此，他一直快乐地生活下去！
