Albert不可能的牙痛(上）

One morning, Albert Turtle complained that he had a toothache.

一天早晨，乌龟Albert抱怨他牙齿痛

“Whoever heard of a turtle with a toothache?” said Albert’s sister, Marybelle.

“谁听说过一个乌龟牙疼啊？”Albert的妹妹Marybelle说道

Just the same, Albert was sure he had a toothache

可同时，Albert还是很确定他牙疼

and needed to stay in bed.

并且需要卧床休息

“See,” said Albert’s father, pointing to his own toothless mouth.

“你看”Albert的爸爸指着自己没有牙齿的嘴巴说

“I don’t have a toothache.

“我没有牙痛

And Homer doesn’t have a toothache.

Homer没有牙痛

And Marybelle doesn’t have a toothache.

Marybelle不会牙痛

And your mother doesn’t have a toothache.

你妈妈也不会牙痛

It’s impossible for anyone in our family to have a toothache.”

咱们家任何一个成员都不会牙痛”

“You never believe me,” said Albert.

“你从来都不相信我”Albert说

“I’d believe you if you told me the truth,” said Albert’s father.

“如果你说的是实话我会相信你”Albert爸爸说

“You believed Homer when he said he didn’t break the window,” Albert reminded his father.

“但是Homer说他没有打碎窗户的时候，你也相信他”Albert提醒他的爸爸

“I’m worried about Albert,” said Albert’s mother at breakfast.

“我有点担心Albert，”Albert妈妈早饭的时候说

“You should be worried about a boy who doesn’t tell the truth,” said Albert’s father as he left for work.

“他不说实话，你是应该担心”Albert的爸爸上班之前说

“Albert just doesn’t want to eat his black ants,” said Marybelle.

“Albert就是不吃他的黑蚂蚁”Marybelle说

“If I had a toothache, I’d still want to eat my black ants,” announced Homer.

“就算我牙疼，我也还是想吃我的黑蚂蚁”Homer大声说

“Come eat your black ants, Alberts,” called his mother.

“Albert，快来吃你的黑蚂蚁”他的妈妈招呼他

But Albert just moaned softly from the bedroom.

但是卧室里还是传来Albert轻轻的哼唧声

Albert’s mother kissed Homer and Marybelle goodbye and sat down in her worrying chair.

Albert的妈妈和Homer、Marybelle亲吻再见，然后在她担忧的椅子上坐下

She worried and worried.

她愁啊愁

Then she had an idea.

然后她想到了一个主意

“Look,” she said to Albert.

“看”她对Albert说

“I’ve fixed you a special breakfast of your favorite things-

“早餐我特意给你做了你最喜欢吃的东西-

dandelion leaves garnished with blackberries,

有蒲公英叶子配黑莓

a fat slug, and half a juicy earthworm.”

一只肥美的鼻涕虫，还有半个多汁的蚯蚓。”

“I can’t eat anything,” said Albert.

“我什么都吃不下”Albert说

“I have a toothache.”

“我牙疼”

“Of course you don’t have a toothache.” said his mother.

“你当然没有牙痛”他妈妈说

“You never believe me,” said Albert.

“你从来都不相信我”Albert说

“I’d believe you if you told the truth,” said Albert’s mother.

“如果你说实话我就相信你”妈妈说

“You believed Dad when he said he caught a seven-pound trout,” Albert reminded her.

“可爸爸说他捉了一条7磅的鲑鱼，你也相信了”Albert提醒道

Albert’s mother took the tray back to the kitchen and went outside to her worrying swing on the porch.

Albert的妈妈把餐盘拿回厨房，然后她来到走廊的她那个担忧的秋千上

She worried and worried.

她愁啊愁

Then she had another idea.

然后她有了另外一个主意

“Come play catch with me,” she said.

“过来和我玩投球吧”她说

“You can teach me how to throw a knuckle ball.”

“你可以教我怎么投慢速变化球”

“I can’t teach you how to throw a knuckle ball,” said Albert.

“我不能教你怎么投慢速变化球”Albert说

“I have a toothache.”

“我牙疼”

“You just think you have a toothache,” said Albert’s mother.

“是你觉得你牙疼”妈妈说

“You never believe me,” whined Albert.

“你从来都不相信我”Albert抱怨着

“You believed Marybelle when she said she was the only girl in her class who couldn’t go to a birthday sleepover on a school night.”

“Marybelle说她是班里唯一不能去参加生日狂欢夜的女孩，你也相信了”

Albert’s mother put the ball and glove away and went outside to her worrying rock in the sun.

妈妈把球和手套放在一边，然后走到太阳底下她的担忧的石头上
