Work hard
Hardly work
They both use the root word 'hard'. However, their meanings are actually the opposite of other other.
'Work hard' means that a person will be very diligent and give a lot of effort in doing something
'Hardly work' means that a person is lazy and has not or will not put much effort into doing something
Practice
The students work hard every day.
Some students hardly work at all.
I have worked hard in preparing these lessons.
During the holidays, many people will hardly work.
I saw workers on the road who really work hard.
I saw some workers on the street who were hardly working.
When you work hard, you feel good.
When you hardly work, you feel lazy.
