一、原文: The beginning of self-knowledge.
One day I read the early education audio book that my grandma bought for me. I was curious about a picture in the book. A naked baby was standing in the picture. Around the baby's body were words. Every word had an arrow on it. The extension lines in the opposite direction of the arrows connected different parts of the baby's body. Because of an audio book,each word had a trumpet symbol next to it. I clicked on a top trumpet symbol with my finger. The trumpet immediately read out the word “hair”. Then my finger followed the extension line in the opposite direction of the arrow to the corresponding part of the baby's body. Oh! I got it! This black part was called “hair”. I got interested in it. Then I tried each one in the same way over and over again. I gradually knew the names of the baby's body parts. They were eyes、 nose、mouth、ears、neck、 shoulders、arms、legs、hands and feet. Grandma said that the baby in the picture was me. She taught me to use these words for different parts of my body. That was really interesting! From that day on, my self-knowledge began.

二、译文: 自我认知的开始
有一天,我在看奶奶给我买的那本早教有声书,我对书里的一张图画产生了好奇,图画上站着一个裸体宝宝,宝宝身体的外围是文字,每个文字上都有箭头,而箭头反向的延伸线分别连接着宝宝身体的不同部位,因为是有声书,所以每个文字旁边都有一个喇叭符号,我用手指点了一个最上面的喇叭符号,喇叭立刻读出“头发”二字,然后我的手指随着箭头的反向延伸线滑到宝宝身体的对应部位,哦!我知道了,这个黑色部分叫头发! 我对此产生了兴趣,继而以相同的方式逐个并反复地尝试,渐渐知道了宝宝身体上各个部位的名称: 眼睛、鼻子、嘴巴、耳朵、脖子、肩膀、臂、腿、手和脚。奶奶说图片上的宝宝就是我,并教我用这些词分别对应在我身体的不同部位上。真有意思! 从那天起,我的自我认知就这样开始了!

三、语法
1.规则动词和不规则动词的区别:
规则动词的过去式和过去分词由词尾加ed构成,结尾是e时,只加d,结尾是y时,将y改为i,再加ed。
如:connect→connected
hope→hoped
try→tried
不规则动词的变化因词而异,无规律可循,它们的原形、过去式、过去分词各为其形,需单独记忆。中英词典里都有其附录可查。
例词: go、went、gone,
sing、sang、sung,
read、read、read(发音不同)

2.词尾加ed的拼写规则:
以辅音字母加y结尾的单词,变y为i,再加ed。
如:study→studied
carry→carried
try→tried
以元音字母加y结尾的单词,直接加ed。
如:play→played
enjoy→enjoyed
stay→stayed

3.直接引语和间接引语:
直接引语是把别人的话照原样抄下来。为了跟作者的话语区别,直接引语要加引号,而且人称代词和时态都要有相应的变化。
间接引语是把别人的观点用自己的话转述出来,因为转述的话仍是作者本人的话语,所以不必用引号。
如短文例句:
Grandma said that the baby in the picture was me.
【注】引导词that可以省略。
若把此句变为直接引语,不仅转述的话要加引号,而且人称代词和时态都要变化。
即: Grandma said “the baby in the picture is you”.
系动词was变is,(即:一般过去时变为一般现在时),人称代词me变成you。

4.because of和because的区别:
because of是复合介词,后面跟名词、代词或动名词,比如本文例子:
Because of an audio book构成的复合介词短语。
because是连词,后面跟句子,引导原因状语从句,比如将以上复合介词短语变为从句就是Because it was an audio book。
