The Mule 习得故事描写词汇sigh/ with heavy breath

Once upon a time there was a farmer. He had a mule. That mule was old and of no use.

One day that mule fell in the well.

The farmer sighed and decided to bury that mule in the well.

He started putting sand in the well.

At first the mule was angry with heavy breath, but then he thought he could help himself.

He shook off sand from his back and stepped up and up on the layers of sand.

After a long time he reached the top of the well and jumped out.

“Sorry, you are so clever. I did what I had to.” Said the farmer.

“You needn’t apologize. I know you planned to desert me,” said the mule.

The farmer reflected on his action after the mule left.

从前农夫有一头又老又没用的骡子。

一天这头骡子不小心掉进了井里。

农夫叹了口气，决定就此把这头骡子埋在井里。

于是他开始向井里不断扔沙子。

刚开始骡子很生气，大喘着粗气。后来他灵机一动，觉得他可以自己救自己。

于是他抖掉脖子上的沙子，踏着一层一层的土往上走。

经过长时间的努力，他到了井口，便跳了出来。

“对不起，原来你这么聪明，我是不得已才这样做的。”农夫说。

“不用道歉，你根本就不想要我 。”骡子说。

骡子走了，只剩下他的主人在原地反思自己的做法。

听了这个故事，你有没有觉得这个农夫损失很大呢？原来那口井是农夫早就计划好要让骡子掉进去的。所以啊，即便被背叛，也要像这骡子一样，永远不要放弃自己。 Never give up yourself, even you are betrayed.

今天我们来学两个故事描写中可以用到的细节描写语言。

当农夫发现骡子“不小心”掉进了井里时，他先叹了口气，这也体现出农夫也是出于无奈而为之的心理，The farmer sighed… 所以，一个简单的动词“叹气”就能体现出农夫的心理活动，sigh就是叹气的意思。比如你想表达看到考试成绩那一刻，心里很失望，也许你可以用 “I was so disappointed at the sight of the result of the exam.” 当然你也可以用好一点的情绪表达句子 “A surge of disappointment flooded through my body when I got the result of the exam.”但是我也可以用很简单的句子 “I sighed at the result of the exam.”而且我会觉得此时无声胜有声的感觉，更能表达出当下的失望低落感。

但是要注意，sigh这个单词有一个和它长得很像的兄弟，就是sign, 这个意思是“签字署名”的意思，可不要弄错了哦。

第二个要学的表达是“喘着粗气”，with heavy breath。前段时间宁波地区高三的开学测，大作文写的就是和跑步有关的故事，里面少不了对于跑步时候的状态的描写。你看，在这个故事里，我们就可以用到“喘着粗气”的描写了，run with heavy breath, 跑步很累的时候喘大气的意思。
