I'm sure you guys have noticed that taking photos has become a huge part of our world.

We're really bombarded with it on social media.

And whether you find it annoying or you embrace it, the truth is everyone likes to have a nice photo of themselves.

But when I take photos for people, I find that most people don't know how to pose in a way that's flattering.

I find the majority of people aren't that comfortable posing and don't really know what to do with themselves.

So today we're gonna fix that and I'm gonna show you a few pose ideas that you can do next time you're taking photos.

Step one. Ditch baggy clothes.

Big sweatshirts and jackets just aren't very flattering so it's always better to start with those off.

Let's start with full body shots.

This is what you don't want to do.

You know how she looks kind of tense and unnatural, and this is what a lot of people just default to when they don't know what to do with their arms.

An easy way to fix this is bring one leg out and rest a hand on it.

This looks like you have a bit of purpose, more confident and when shot at a low angle will also make you look taller.

Another great way to pose standing up is to add some movement.

Take a step into your pose, flip your hair, set your camera on a higher shutter speed so that you're able to capture that exact moment when your hair flips or when you hit that pose.

Since you're moving and not posing, these shots always tend to look a lot more natural.

Next, we have medium shots and portraits.

Resting your hand on your face can be a great way to occupy your arms so they don't look awkward.

However in this shot, the hand looks very posed and can start to smash your face a bit and look kind of weird.

What you want to do is have a hand under your chin a bit, so that your arm is occupied, your fingers spaced out so they look a little more natural and not actually resting your head on your hand but holding it just below so that it looks like it is.

You'll see this shot is more natural looking than the former shot.

Moving on to sitting shots.

Sitting shots can be tricky.

You don't want to just grab your legs like this.

It might be a comfortable way to actually sit but it's not very photogenic.

An easy way to pose sitting down is to cross one leg over the other.

It's also a pretty comfortable way to sit.

Having your arm slung over a little bit makes it look like you're casually sitting there and not really posing for a picture so much.

Sitting shots can also look pretty cool on staircases.

When you're on a staircase you don't really need to cross your legs either since there's more room for your legs to just naturally lay.

Another thing to do if you're really just struggling with finding a pose that you like is just go on Pinterest and look up what fashion bloggers are doing.

You can even search Instagram pose ideas and you'll find a bunch of poses that if you were to actually do them without seeing the photo, we'd feel kind of awkward but look good in photos.

If anything, it's nice to have a couple photo poses that are flattering and you know you look good from that angle because it is really annoying when your friend wants to retake the photo like thirty times.

I enjoy photography and little photo shoots and stuff but there's a point where it's just overboard and it seems like people just want to look like they're having a fun time but they're not really having a fun time.

So basically now you have some poses so that you don't have to waste a bunch of time taking photos if you don't want to.
