Good morning.
Today, I’ll teach you two phrases that are commonly misunderstood. Native English speakers know how to use them because they’ve used them a lot. However, these can be confusing for those who are learning to become better English speakers.
Words/Phrases
each other
one another
Each other and one another usually have the same meaning. At times, however, ‘each other’ is more logically used in reference to only two. ‘One another’ is most often used to mean two or more people.
Practice
Jesus taught us to love one another.
The couple held each other’s hand as they walked down the street.
The students helped each other study for the exam.
People should be kinder to one another.
Teams work best when everyone helps one another.
I saw two elderly ladies helping each other across the busy street.
The man and wife forgave each other after they argued.
When we help each other, we are helping more than just two people.
That’s all for today.
Goodbye for now.
I hope you have a wonderful day!
