Hello, everyone, this is Sara. Welcome to Ted Notes, made by 爱学英语ILearn English.

As we all know, there are many meeting invitations which don’tgive the agenda[1] inthe subject line and any information about why you were invited to the meeting.Yet you accept it and go. When this highly unproductive[2] session is over, you wish you had the 2hours back.

In fact, I believe that we are in the middle of a globalepidemic[3] of aterrible new illness known as MAS: Mindless Accept Syndrome[4]. The primary symptom[5] of MAS is justaccepting a meeting invitation the minute it pops up in your calendar. Meetingsare important because collaboration[6] is the key to the success of any enterprise. But in thesociety of pervasive[7]information technology, we mindlessly accept the unnecessary meetings. We aremiserable because of MAS.

Actually, the cure for MAS is right here in our hands. That’sNO MAS. First of all, the next you get a meeting invitation that doesn’t have alot of information in it at all, just click the tentative[8] button. Then ask theperson who invited you to the meeting, about the goal and content of themeeting, and tell them you’re interested in learning how you can help themachieve their goal. They might start to be thoughtful when they make meetinginvitations because of your respective attitude. People just might start tochange their behaviors because you changed yours.
