[China Eastern Inks 1st Order for C919]
China Eastern Airlines today signed a contract to purchase five C919 passenger jets from China Commercial Aircraft Company.
The first plane is expected to be delivered by the end of this year. Another 15 C919 planes are among the intent order. The deal is the world's first purchase contract for the domestically produced aircraft, which made its maiden flight on May 5th, 2017. China Eastern Airlines will be the world's first airline to operate a C919 plane. Its chairman said the aircraft will be used for flights between Shanghai and Beijing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Chengdu. The C919 has a seating configuration ranging between 158 and 190 seats.
