Jewsare one of the most ancient peoples in the world. Jewish history is recorded inthe Bible, by historians outside of the Bible, and through archeology. 犹太人是世界上古老的民族之一。犹太人的历史由历史学家和人文学家记录并收录在圣经里。

Wehave more facts about Jewish history than that of any other nation – which wewill use to build a timeline to summarize the history of the Jews.对犹太人这个民族的历史记载是最为完备的---我们将根据这些记录来总结犹太人的历史。

Abraham: The Jewish Family Tree Begins

亚伯拉罕：犹太人的从这个人开始

Thetimeline starts with Abraham, the founder of the Jewish people, who lived about2000 BC. He is even named outside the Bible in ancient clay tablets, datedaround 1950 BC in contracts between him and kings in Babylonia.

亚伯拉罕是犹太人的祖先，他生活在公元前2000年左右。除圣经以外，在出土的古老的石板上也找到了关于他的记录，大概是公元前1950年在亚伯拉罕和巴比伦国王之间的契约。

Moses: The Israelites become a Nation underG-d

Mosesled the Israelites out of Egypt with the Passover Plague, which destroyed Egyptand allowed the IsraeliteExodus from Egypt to the land of Israel.

摩西趁着逾越节瘟疫，带着以色列人从埃及逃亡。这场瘟疫摧垮了埃及，也使得以色列人得已从埃及撤出来，去到以色列。

Moseswrote the Torah, and at its end, Moses prophesied Blessings and Curses on theIsraelites. They would be Blessed if they obeyed G-d, blessed be He, butexperience a Curse if they did not. These Blessings & Curses were to followthe Jewish people ever after.

摩西写成了Torah, 中文翻译是妥拉，这就是后来旧约里的重要组成部分，包括教导，训诲，律法，也被称为《摩西五经》。在结尾处，摩西预言了以色列人将得到的Blessings，就是保佑，以及Curses，就是惩罚。如果他们遵从上帝，就会被保佑，如果他们不遵从，就会受惩罚。从此以后，这些保佑和惩罚就世代跟随着犹太人了。

Forseveral hundred years the Israelites lived in their land but they did not havea King, nor did they have the capital of Jerusalem – it belonged to otherpeople in this time. However, with King David around 1000 BC this changed.

David establishes a Royal Dynasty atJerusalem

Davidconquered Jerusalem and made it his capital city. 大卫征服了耶路撒冷，把它定为国都。

Hereceived the promise of a coming ‘Messiah’ and from that time Jews have awaited Messiah’scoming. 他得到了承诺，会有先知弥赛亚的降临。

David’sson Solomon succeeded him and Solomon built the First Jewish Temple inJerusalem.

Thedescendants of King David continued to rule for about 400 years and this periodis shown in aqua-blue (from 1000 BC – 586 BC).

TheIsraelites split into two different countries. Many prophets in this periodwarned the Israelites that the Curses of Moses would come on them if they didnot change.

Butthese warnings were ignored.
