And here is a finished firework.Now the factory has to make sure that these definitely work,and the only true way of doing that is to let them off.

Every evening, the hills of Liuyang are alive with the sound of fireworks

that each factory detonates its latest designs.

看到自己烟花在天上，你有什么感觉

Seeing your fireworks in the sky, how does that make you feel?

我非常自豪。这是我父亲的事业，也是我们家族事业

I am so proud of it. It's my father's business and also our family business.

我们白手起家，而且我们点亮了夜晚。

We made it from nothing. And we light the night sky.

今晚表演的烟花已经放在码头中间的三艘船上了

The fireworks for tonight's display have been set up on the three barges out there in the middle of the harbour.

这个活动的预算是惊人的75万英镑

The budget for this event is a staggering 3 quarters of a million pounds

还有好几个月的计划和准备工作

and it takes months of planning and preparation.

To find out a little bit more, I went to meet the brains behind the display, Wilson Mau.

这是香港早晨，我前往驳船去见

Beautiful early morning in Hong Kong and I am heading out to the barge,

在那里工作的威尔森和他的队员们，他们在放置所有准备表演的烟花

which is where Wilson and his crew are working, setting up all the fireworks in preparation for the display.在船上装烟花用了一周，共有4500公斤威力巨大的烟花

It takes a week to load up the barges with 4.5 thousand kilograms of highly explosive pyrotechnics.

Wilson has mapped out a spectacular show,

so he's making sure they are positioned perfectly to go off at the right place and time.

So those are the launch tubes. The actual explosives, the fireworks are stuffed in those?

Yes. Right. There is an electric match, together with the shell.

一旦电子火柴打火，烟花弹就从发射管升空

When the electric match ignites, the shell is going to propel from the launch tube.

一只板条箱装这么多爆炸物

Is there any danger when you've got this much explosive

有没有危险，一箱爆炸而引起余下的爆炸。不会。　　

in one crates, that one will go off and that will somehow set off the rest of them. No.

你说的那种事故很罕见

We have very rare incidents like what you said.

尽管有时电线上会起火，那可能发生。

Although sometimes there may be some fire burn on some wires, that may happen.

Millions will be watching around the harbour and across the nation on TV.

因此威尔森有个雄心勃勃的设计，以迎接新年

So Wilson has devised an ambitious firework to celebrate the incoming year.

有60个猴脸在演出中出现

We have 60 monkey faces in the show.

为了猴年

For the year of the monkey?

没错，就是为了猴年

For the year of the monkey. That's right.

猴子出来了。哦看呀

We have the monkeys. Oh, look at them.

他花数月时间计时和测试猴脸设计

He's spent months timing testing his monkey face design.

但现在，演出仅存在于他的想象和这台电脑的模拟中

But for now, the show exists only in his imagination and this computer simulation.

这依然是个不可预知的艺术，很多因素都是没法控制的

It is still an unpredictable art and is so much you just cannot control.

有时二维效果最后并没有面对着观众

Sometimes the two-dimensional effect does not turn out to be facing to the audience,

因为烟花弹旋转速度很快

because the shell is spinning in very very high speed.

如果像这样爆破，就会看到猴脸

If it bursts like this, you will see the monkey face.

但如果转向这边，如果这样爆破，就看到一条线

But if it turns out like this, if it burst like this, you will see a line.

看不到脸

You will not see the face.

所以会看到完全不同景色

So you might just get a completely different view.

哦，是的。我们不能做任何排演

Oh, yeah. We can't do any kind of rehearsal.
