Would you like to visit a snowy country in winter? Why or why not?
Winter in Hokkaido,a north Japanese island, is very cold and snowy. Its capital city is famous for a winter event: the Sapporo Snow Festival. This event began in 1950 and happens every year. More than two million people visited it in 2019. The festival has about 400 beautiful snow sculptures of many sizes. Some of the large ones are around 15 meters tall.
Each year, workers collect 30,000 tons of snow from Sapporo to make the sculptures. This snow fills about 6,000 trucks! The sculptures often look like famous buildings, people, or events. The main sculpture show is at Odori Park from February 4-11,2023.
