[SpaceX Rocket Explodes on Ground after Seemingly Good Flight]
A prototype of an unmanned SpaceX Starship rocket exploded on the ground in Texas yesterday after what seemed to be a successful launch, flight, and vertical landing.
This is the third Starship rocket prototype that has blown up during testing. During the 6 minute 30 second flight, the envisioned Mars ship climbed to an altitude of more than 10 kilometers. It descended horizontally and flipped upright just in time to land. The Starship then exploded and was tossed back into the air. SpaceX has not commented what went wrong. But SpaceX founder Elon Musk called it a "honorable discharge" in a tweet, saying "Starship 10 landed in one piece!". Musk plans to use Starships based on this prototype to send people and 100 tons of cargo to the Moon and to Mars. The prototype's first orbital flight is planned at the end of this year.
